LOCAL RULES

1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27-1)

(a) Beyond all boundary fences or hedges, including the fences surrounding the car park.

(b) Beyond the tan gallop when playing the 5th hole.

(c) A ball that lies on or has crossed a public road or pavement is out of bounds, even though it may lie on another part of the course.

(d) The cattle grid to the rear of the 18th green.

2. INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE CQURSE

(a) The tan gallop.

(b) The practice area to the right of the 1st and 2nd holes.

(c) All footpaths and tracks, except the shingle path from the 13th tee through the trees. The ball must be played as it lies, or declared unplayable (Rule 28)

NOTE: The tan gallop, whether or not crossing the fairway, is not closely mown for the purposes of preferred lies or for local Rule 6 (Hoof marks) (Rule 25-2)

3.PROTECTION OF YOUNG TREES (Including single fenced trees)

(a) Young trees are identified by stakes or fencing. If such a tree, stake or fence interferes with a player's stance or the area of his intended swing, relief must be taken in accordance with Rule 24-2b (Immovable Obstruction)

4. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO THE PUTTING GREEN (Sprinkler Heads and Control Boxes, Protective Fences)

(a) The specimen local rule in the Decisions on the Rules of Golf is in effect (Appendix 1, Part B, 6).

NOTE: Protective fence relief, for a ball lying outside the wire, relief will always be outside the wire, and for a ball lying inside the wire relief will often be outside the wire.

(b) If a ball strikes any part of a protective fence around the green of the hole being played, the player may disregard that stroke, either abandon the ball or retrieve it and play the ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was played. The ball shall be dropped in accordance with Rule 20-5.

5. OBSTRUCTIONS

(a) Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions (Rule 24-1)

6. ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS

(a) Dung: If a ball lies in or touches dung or when dung interferes with stance or area of intended swing relief may be taken in accordance with Rule 25-1.

(b) Hoof Marks: If a ball lies in a hoof mark.

  1. In any closely mown area through the green, on the green; or

  2. In the areas between the fences guarding the green and the road on the 3rd, 4th and 7th holes; or

  3. In the area between the fence guarding the 14th green and the boundary hedge.

A hoof mark is an Abnormal Ground Condition and relief may be taken in accordance with Rule 25-1.

7. WRONG PUTTING GREEN

The whole of the area within a green's protective fence is deemed to be the putting green for the purposes of Rule 25-3.

8.PRACTICE AREA

Practice is not permitted from beyond the south or west boundaries of the practice area. Balls landing to the south or west of the boundaries of the practice area are not deemed to be on the course for the purposes of Rule 7 (Practice).

9.PENALTIES

Penalty for the breach of a local rule unless covered by the Rules of Golf and the Decisions on the Rules of Golf: Match Play - loss of hole; Stroke Play - 2 strokes.
