Beverley ERU Scratch League Champions 2011

Congratulations to the Beverley A team who have won the 1st division of the East Riding Union Scratch League in 2011. The team won several of its matches 4-0 and performed well throughout the series of matches. Representing the club were Neil Burnley, Rich and Dave Norton, Dave Jackson and Mike Helyard Jnr. The Following is a report by the A Team Captain Neil Burnley:
Beverley and East Ridings A Team, after a hard fought battle with Hessle
regained the scratch league title for the first time since 2008.
This makes it a fantastic 15 titles in the last 19 years.
The winning team comprised of Neil Burnley, Richard Norton, Michael Helyard,
Dave Norton and David Jackson.
The key to their victory was a tremendous home record, winning 6 of their 7
matches 4 - 0.
With Beverley and Hessle vying for the lead for most of the season, the
battle for the title went down to the last match, with both teams tied on
points.
Beverley managed to beat Bridlington 4 - 0 whilst Hessle could only manage a
2 1/2 - 1 1/2 win away at Hornsea.
This resulted in Beverley claiming title by just 1 1/2 points.
The team look forward to a successful season in their quest to retain the
title in 2012.
