Interclub v Drax 1st Sept 2011

Our 8th and final match of 2011 was played at Drax. For many it was their first time playing Drax – most did not know there was a golf course at the power station.
With the evenings drawing in we played the 12 holes at Drax instead of doubling up on 6 holes to make 18. To complicate matters further we played the holes in the order 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. They were unable to field a full team so Brian Gregory and Nick May kindly played for Drax and both won points??? We played 5 games and were level with 2 points each and waiting on the result the final match. Terry Ives and Adrian Tear kept us all waiting, but it was worthwhile as they managed to level their game after being 3 down with 3 to play. The overall result was 2.5 points each – an honourable draw. Everyone enjoyed this short but very tricky and tight course where trees line every hole.
We all enjoyed an excellent dinner, pudding and coffee in a busy social club that provided lots of sporting and social activity for the local area.
