2011-08-21 Mixed friendly v Hessle

Our only mixed match of the year to date saw us draw 4.5:4.5 against Hessle at Beverley. We were treated to a lovely sunny and warm Sunday afternoon's golf with the Westwood resplendent and even the general public causing little interference.

Beverley provided 10 teams and Hessle 8, so Nigel Bell and Veronica Farrar of Beverley kindly played for Hessle against Carol Suillivan and Steve Moore of Beverley. In not so friendly a fashion they managed to win their game, with the point bringing Hessle level at 4.5 points each.

David Liversedge who managed 5 gross birdies (and still lost) hit his ball into the bunker on the left of the 18th green. The ball was plugged over the letter U in "F**k off" which some kind soul had drawn in the sand. All part of the rich tepestry of life when playing golf on the Westwood.

Most matches were very close with three halved and 3 more going to the 18th.Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time with good food and drink to end the day. Thanks to Sue Bell in particular for organising the event. Hopefully, such events will be played more than once a year in the future.
